whoneedsfeminism:

I need feminism because women can’t eat the same amount of food as men without being seen as overindulgent.

I need feminism…

whoneedsfeminism:

because a 41% suicide rate for trans* people is terrifying and embracing the beauty of gender diversity can’t truly be realized if half the world’s population is not accepted for their gender identities and expressions.

I need feminism because

whoneedsfeminism:

Whenever I’m with a family member for the first time in a while, instead of asking how I’ve been or how’s school, they ask me “do you have a boyfriend yet?”. And when I answer “no”, they look at me with a mix of pity and concern.

whoneedsfeminism:

I need feminism because I shouldn’t feel obligated to have sex with anyone. And if I do, I should be treated like a human with feelings afterwards, not tossed aside like a useless object. Because I’m MORE than a face and body.

I need feminism because when I say that girls should be able to join boy scouts and boys should be able to join girl scouts, it shouldn’t be met with eye rolls.

bubbsnugg:

“That women are joining in the ongoing disassembling of my appearance is salient. Patriarchy is not men. Patriarchy is a system in which both women and men participate. It privileges, inter alia, the interests of boys and men over the bodily integrity, autonomy, and dignity of girls and women. It is subtle, insidious, and never more dangerous than when women passionately deny that they themselves are engaging in it. This abnormal obsession with women’s faces and bodies has become so normal that we (I include myself at times—I absolutely fall for it still) have internalized patriarchy almost seamlessly. We are unable at times to identify ourselves as our own denigrating abusers, or as abusing other girls and women.”

hotguysreadingbooks:

Lent is officially over. So, if you gave up hot guys who read, love the outdoors, oh, and ARE SCOTTISH, you’re in luck. Our submitter writes: “This is my friend’s boyfriend. I know that sounds creepy, but he’s Scottish. He’s hot. He’s reading a book. Am I justified in posting this? I think so.”

ohmyword. A scottish boy, reading AND camping…
Scottish. And in a tent. As Jesse Katsopolis would say, have mercy.
